Another birthday survival....
Parents will know exactly what I'm talking about. It's the children's birthday party. It's what is otherwise known to turn rational and respectable parents into blubbering idiots in search of a venue and an activity suitable to six, seven, eight year-olds. For two hours, tops. It's damn near impossible to find somewhere that the gaggle of girls has not frequented. I mean come on, how many times can we tour the kitchen of Boston Pizza and put stickers on dollar store picture frames.

This year, the decision was made somewhat unilaterally - read by me - that we would go to the movie theater. This was because B and I were at the theater and I spotted their party packages. I do recall thinking of a movie party before, but I also thought that it was ridiculously overpriced. Not this year, ladies and gentlemen, it's what happens when you are running out of time and the birthday girl is thinking of grander and grander things.

Alas, there was a dearth of movie choices. We settled on "Igor" - it was the only animated Disney movie playing. Big mistake, let me tell you. It was freaky and off colour to say the least. I ended up staying in the party room with two of the guests, the birthday girl included, for about three quarters of the movie. That was not so bad, I rather enjoyed that actually.

So, the gifts have been opened, the loot bags have been handed out, and I am blissfully party-free for another seven months....until Boo Boo turns six, that is!
